2009 WIN SIG Files
In the interest of saving alloted disk space and bandwidth, I will no longer be putting all the files on this site. Instead, I will be providing visitors with the URL link to download the programs that we have featured at our WIN SIG meetings.
January

PCWizard 2008 - is a free utility designed to analyze and benchmark your computer system. FeedDemon - a free RSS reader that keeps you up to date.
http://www.newsgator.com/individuals/downloads.aspx?product=FeedDemon
PAINT.NET - a versatile, full-featured  image editing program that rivals similar high priced applications. The major difference is it's FREE.
http://www.download.com/Paint-NET/3000-2192_4-10338146.html
You'll need Microsoft.NET Framework 2 (it's also free from Microsoft and you might already have it on your computer.) If not, the installation of Paint.net will prompt you to go get it, with a provided link.
A majority of the software highlighted here will be shareware, freeware or donation ware.
Please keep in mind that the authors need support to continue maintaining the applications and to create new ones. So, if it is useful to you, please give them a donation, either what they are asking, or what you think it is worth to you. Otherwise all we will see in the future is the packaged application on the shelf or over priced downloads. Mahalo.

May
The TUG-May2_09.pdf file to the right is the info that has been posted on the Index page. It contains the website links we talked about at that TUG meeting.
The May WINSIG saw a moderately sized but very inquisitive crowd. Lots of questions (good).
Not all answered correctly (bad). But, I try. I showed off several freeware applications that included:

My LockBox allows you to hide complete folders from prying eyes. You just need to remember one password to make them visible again.

Gen Finder is a geneaology resource that has hundreds of geneaology specific weblinks and sources. Good to lay out your search strategy.

Win Tricks & Tips is a laundry list of tips for ALL versions of Windows from 95 through Vista. How to do's are easy to follow for any experience level.

FreePDF Creator copy and paste from any Windows application to create a PDF file. Insert images as well.

Ultimate Windows Tweaker is a Tweak UI utility for Windows VISTA 32 and 64 bit.

Small, but inquisitive, group at the meeting today. I suspect the sparse attendance is due to it being travel season for a lot of us.
If this keeps up, I can move the meetings to my garage and not have to lug the equipment around. See file on the right for what we did today.
